| What Would Dewey Say? |
|
Today I asked Ashley, (one of my regular liberry
teens) and her friend to teach me a new slang word
a week. (I don't want to overuse "snap.") So they
said, "Yo," and I said as in "Yo, dawg, I can't
find that book you're looking for." They laughed so
hard they almost wet themselves. Ashley said she
was going to have nightmares and that I would get
fired if I ever said that for real. Then Ashley
said they would come up with a list of ten things
librarians should never say (with "Yo, dawg, I
can't find that book you're looking for" definitely
on the list). I can't wait.

| Can Whiskey Plus Be Far Behind? |
|
Yesterday at Super Target I made an amazing
discovery...Diet Coke Plus! The DC+ website says it
best: "Diet Coke Plus is everything you love about
Diet Coke, plus several essential nutrients you
want and your body needs." (Everything I love about
Diet Coke? Wow, that presents a deep philosophical
question. What DO I love about Diet Coke? Clearly,
a lot--can't face the thought of a day without
one--but how to define love?) Now, being a Diet
Cokehead is actually good for me. Water is cleary
for suckers. I'm sure if I drink Rum and Diet Coke
Plus I won't get a hangover.

| A Heartwarming Liberry Tale |
|
This afternoon I played DDR against a 10 year old
boy who has previously been kicked out of the
library for looking at porn. And I won! I guess if
I had been smarter, I would have made a deal with
him before we started that if I won, he would give
up his scandalous internet ways. (Just like in the
new movie "Pride" where the coach reaches the tough
inner city kid by beating him at swimming.)

| Curtain Call |
|
Apparently I can only handle one creative outlet at
a time, so my recent acting gig as Emily in our
church's production of "Our Town" put the blog on
hiatus. Church theater, you say? Yes, I was very
dubious, fearing that church theater would be a
level of hell below community theater. But
apparently not partaking in traditional religious
pursuits frees up all kinds of energy for acting.
Despite all odds, our little play was actually
rather good. People even cried, and I honestly
don't think it was from embarassment or pain.

| The Vegetarian Blues |
|
I've been slow to post this, but here are lyrics to
another song by my nephew: "I ate a steak/I made a
mistake/I got the vegetarian blues."
